Lisa Brunner

Lisa Brunner began making short films as a child, using her grandfather’s Super 8 camera to create vampire stories with dolls as her cast. She studied Literature and Fine Arts in Geneva, initially pursuing painting and gravitating—against the grain of the 1990s—toward figurative expressionism, at a time when the movement was largely considered obsolete. A true touche-à-tout, her practice has evolved across disciplines, from copywriting and photography to multimedia design and AI-generated video. Largely self-taught in technical areas, she works with a hands-on, exploratory approach. An early explorer of generative AI—particularly in video—she develops work across a wide range of visual styles, moving between abstraction, collage, and rhythm-driven formats such as music videos. Through both proprietary and open-source tools, she approaches AI not as a shortcut but as a means of creative freedom—reducing the distance between impulse and image, and opening space for unexpected, dissonant, and often richer outcomes. For her, AI is not the end of authorship but its expansion: a way to give voice to the unheard and to translate intuition into form.
