On Chios, an old couple works the mastic trees the way their parents did. They wait for the bark to weep, gather the resin tears and clean them, one by one, through a long summer. The film follows a single tear from the grove, through the still, to a glass in a moonlit bar, where a younger generation tastes what took a whole season to make. THE MASTIC TEAR is a spec ad for a Greek mastiha liqueur, an unsolicited concept made without a brief or a client. Slow, sunlit and tactile, it asks for patience and pays it back in one sip.
