BLACK WATER
Film
A man in his sixties goes back to the village he was born in. The village is at the bottom of a lake. In 1980 a dam flooded a whole valley in the mountains of Greece. Forty-five years later a drought brings the bell tower back to the surface, and an old man who still eats alone from the same enamel plate decides to dive down at dawn, before anyone can see him. BLACK WATER is a short film about memory, the places where no one was ever really waiting for us, and the moment we let them go. No dialogue. Only water, breath and light. Inspired by the drowned village of Kallio at Lake Mornos, Greece. The village in the film is fictional.
