Running a festival programme on GenFlix.
Festival Studio gives organisers the tools to open submissions, review work, invite judges, and communicate decisions with creators. Our goal is to protect the creators who trust GenFlix with their work, while giving your team a clear and practical way to run a festival programme.
This guide sits alongside the GenFlix Terms & Conditions. If anything in this guide is inconsistent with those Terms, the Terms apply.
1. GenFlix provides the software infrastructure.
GenFlix provides the software pipeline connecting creators to festival organisers. We do not produce your festival, manage your physical or virtual events, or become the promoter, operator, sponsor, co-organiser, agent, partner, fiduciary, or guarantor of your festival unless GenFlix expressly agrees in writing. We provide the workflow infrastructure. Your team runs the programme.
2. Intellectual property and screening rights.
Creators retain ownership of their submitted work. By accepting a submission through the GenFlix pipeline, organisers receive a limited, non-exclusive right to review the work and, if selected, use it for the festival purpose described in the public festival programme page and programme terms. You do not acquire any underlying rights to the creator's IP, characters, or future royalties.
3. Entry fees during early access.
GenFlix is committed to democratising discovery and distribution. While Festival Studio is in early access, organisers using the native GenFlix submission pipeline may not charge GenFlix creators an entry or submission fee unless GenFlix agrees otherwise in writing.
4. Data privacy and communications.
As an organiser, you will be granted access to creator metadata (names, project details, synopses) strictly for the purpose of festival curation and operational communication.
- You agree not to sell, distribute, or exploit this data.
- You agree not to add creators to third-party marketing mailing lists without their explicit, separate consent.
5. Operational integrity.
Festivals hosted on GenFlix must be actively managed. Organisers are expected to:
- Clearly define their submission categories and deadlines.
- Review submissions in a timely manner using the provided Kanban workspace.
- Accurately update submission statuses (Selected or Not selected) so the automated system can notify creators of their final standing.
6. Platform moderation.
GenFlix reserves the right to suspend or remove any festival from the platform that violates our community guidelines, misrepresents its event details, or repeatedly fails to communicate final decisions to submitters. We measure the integrity of the platform to ensure a high-quality experience for both creators and curators.
